Club Competition 2022

A few weeks ago, we held our annual club competition. This occasion offers an opportunity for everyone in the club to show off what they have been working on at training, and to celebrate each others achievements. It is always an enjoyable day, with lots of raffles and cakes for sale too! Here are some fantastic photos from the day, taken by Jemma from JLW Photography.

Recent Competition Success!

The Dragons have been out and about competing recently and have achieved some fantastic results!

Finn was recently selected to represent Team East at the Inter-Regional Championships in Sheffield. The pressure of a national competition did not phase her, and she completed two wonderful routines to place 2nd! Huge well done Finn!

Last weekend, 6 competitors travelled to Brentwood to compete in the annual Brentwood Open competition. Edie was first up, and competed two great routines to finish in 2nd place. Charlotte and Livs competed in the same group, and Charlotte performed two consistent routines, gaining her a bronze medal. Unfortunately, an error in Liv's first routine kept her out of the medals this time, however her second routine was the highest scoring in her group! Kaitlin took the gold medal in her group, competing two well executed routines with added difficulty on her voluntary. Last to compete were Lauren and Sophie B. Lauren performed a great first routine, giving her the confidence to compete a more difficult voluntary which helped her to claim the silver medal. Unfortunately, Sophie has a heavy landing on her knees at the end of her first routine, meaning that she was unable to complete a second routine.

Congratulations to all our recent competitors!

Regional and Club Championships

Last weekend, 8 of our members headed to Cambridge for the Club and Regional Championships. It was a great day for Dragons with some fantastic results from all. Kaitlin and Finn took the top spots in their respective groups, with Lauren taking the silver medal in her group. Willow won the bronze medal in her group, and Charlotte and Sophie B both narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in 4th place. Sophie G and Emmy both competed in large groups, and performed excellently, with Emmy earning herself a fantastic 9th place.

Well done everyone!

Club Competition

Back in December, we held our annual club competition and awards! It was so wonderful to be able to gather members from both of our training venues together, and see what fabulous things everyone has been working on in their sessions. The supportive atmosphere made for a fantastic day, and members of all ages and levels showed off the fantastic routines they have been practicing at training. Check out some photos from the day, taken by Jemma from JLW Photography.

Competition Success!

Over the last few weeks, our members have been back competing at their first in-person competitions in over 18 months! The first competition was Hemel Hempstead Regional Championships on 31st October. Finn and Willow both came away with gold medals in their respective categories, and Livs finished in 4th after a tough competition. Sophie G and Ella finished in 13th and 16th place respectively in their group and everyone performed some lovely routines!

Charlotte and Livs then headed to the National League: Bounce Back Competition on 13th-14th November. Both competed in League 2 in their respective age groups and performed some beautiful routines, earning themselves a place in the finals. They completed another fantastic routine each, and both finished in 4th place in their groups!

Congratulations all!

Welfare Officer Vacancy

The club are looking for a new Welfare Officer to represent our club members. The role needs to be filled by someone who is not a coach, but no previous experience in similar positions is required as training will be provided. If anyone feels that this role would suit them, please speak to Rachel or Andree.  You need to be over 18 and do not need to be at every session.  We would be happy for the role to be shared with more than one individual.

2019 League Success

A huge congratulations to Olivia, Halle, Charlotte and Jamie who have all made it to National League Finals this year!

2019 has been a monumental year for Dragons at the League series, with all 4 girls achieving incredible personal goals.

We were very excited to welcome Jamie to the League family this year, and what a great first year she had! She placed 12th in her very first League comp, 18th out of a whopping 78 at Cardiff, and then flew to 4th place in the 3rd qualifier, securing her place at finals! An incredible start to your League journey, Jamie.
Charlotte had a fantastic start to the League year too, storming to 3rd place at the first qualifiers, and placing 10th out of an enormous 104 in Cardiff. Following her League 3 success, she then tried out League 2 for the first time in Nottingham, performing 2 beautiful routines and proving herself to be a very worthy League 2 competitor!
Halz also had her first full year at League 2 this year, performing her beautiful new double back vol for the first time. They proved very popular with the judges, as she placed 5th in her first competition of the year, and carried on to take home a very well deserved bronze medal at Nottingham (not to mention getting a fab PB for her ToF!)
Carrying on the Dragon tradition, Liv also had a knock out start to the year in League 2, qualifying in 2nd place and then taking home the gold! Knowing she had secured her place at Finals, and with a plethora of new moves under her belt, she then decided to take on League 1 in Nottingham! Although somewhat daunting, with a morning full of more double somersaults than you could count, she pulled both routines out of the bag, making it to finals and finishing in 8th!

Well done girls, we are very proud and can’t wait to see you all at National Finals

Anti-Bullying Week 2019 – Change Starts With Us!

Dragons Trampoline Club are supporting Anti-Bullying Week 2019, coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

The aim of this week is to work with children in our clubs to understand:

• Bullying is still a serious issue

• We are all responsible

• A small change can make a big difference

• Change starts now

This year we want to focus on positive change, and we know that we are ALL part of the solution.

We are asking that everyone pledge to change something no matter how small and tell us about it! For those of you who want to share your support, Odd Socks Day takes place on Tuesday 12th November - it's as simple as it sounds, all you have to do is wear odd socks to training to spread awareness of the core values Anti-Bullying week promotes!

Parents in Sport

Dragons Trampoline Club are supporting the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit’s (CPSU) Sports Parents Promise as part of its annual awareness raising campaign, Parents in Sport Week.

The Promise outlines all the ways in which parents can be the best sports parents they can be, by ensuring their child has safe and enjoyable experiences of sport.

Parents can make the Promise online by 13th October 2019 and, in return, you'll be directed to vital information about how to keep your child safe in sport. You can also download a certificate of your own to share on social media or print out and stick up on the fridge.

Show your child you support them taking part in sport by making the Promise at https://thecpsu.org.uk/parentspromise and spread the word using the hashtag #SportsParents and tweet using the handles @TheCPSU, @Dragons_TC and @BritGymnastics. If you are not on Twitter, with your consent, we will be taking photographs of you and your child with your certificate in classes on the 8th, 9th and 10th October.

Please sign up to make the Promise today and to talk to your child(ren) about why it is so important to ensure they are kept safe in their sport

On the weekend of the 28th September, we will be moving all equipment to the new venues, so if anyone is available to lend a helping hand on either day, please let us know. There is a lot of equipment to move and we would appreciate as many volunteers to help with this as possible.
